See multi-use tab for elementary spaces. In middle and high schools, students can take choral and/or instrumental music classes. It is possible to provide a singular multi-use space with adjustable acoustics (such as curtains or adjustable baffles) that could house both types of music classes, if space is restricted. Instrument lockers shall be provided and ideally accessed without having to enter the classroom.

Dedicated storage for large school owned equipment such as tympani, xylophones, and choral risers should be discussed to allow greatest flexibility within limited space. High volume spaces work best for music rooms, and acoustic engineers will need to determine how best to outfit the rooms with items like adjustable wall acoustics, angled walls, and ceilings for each scenario. Consider deep sinks for instrument cleaning, and consider recording capabilities for large group, small group, and individual music performers.
