Early childhood students are still learning how to hold cups, paint brushes, and even use the restroom. Frequent messes are expected and anticipated. Provide materials that are easy to clean. Provide furniture that is movable. Restrooms and wet areas shall have hard surfaces that can be cleaned and dried easily and quickly. Wall coverings shall be considered in lieu of drywall finishes in high-traffic areas for long-term durability.

Provide hygienic and easy-to-clean surfaces where possible, which can include soft surfaces where desired.

Tile, linoleum, and polished concrete are all good examples of flooring materials that can be used in wet areas such as sink areas, restrooms, and art corners.
