Early Childhood
Early childhood spaces will include special considerations that help young learners transition into elementary school students. These spaces shall include sensory comforts that aligns with the age group, such as smaller scale and quieter equipment. Attention shall be paid to ensuring visual connections for easy supervision of all learners. There shall be a number and variety of play activity areas throughout the classroom, and materials shall have high durability and be easy to clean. The baseline shall be durable materials that are easy to clean for typical messes of this age group. Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten (TK), and Universal Pre-K (UPK) include children from the ages of 3 through 6 years old. Design attention shall focus on comfort and welcoming spaces for these young people in their most formative years.
